Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic future, arises from the ashes of what was North America Panem, a new nation ruled by a totalitarian regime that from the megalopolis, Capitol rules the twelve Districts with an iron fist. All districts are required to send annually two teenagers to participate in the Hunger Games - a show of bloody fighting mortals whose motto is "kill or be killed." In the end, only one of these young escape with his life ...
Katniss Everdeen is a teenage girl of sixteen who offers to replace the younger sister in the Games, an extreme act of courage ... Will Katniss save his life and his humanity?
A surprising plot and unforgettable characters raise this debut novel of the trilogy 'The Hunger Games' to the highest spheres of science fiction.

Opinion: The story unfolds, having as a background, a nation where society is on the edge of revolt, because of the differences that exist between the powerful and rich who live in the capitol, and the poor who have nothing, and living distributed in twelve districts.
The more we move away from the capitol, throughout the districts, until the 12th district, plus the conditions of survival on a daily basis, are difficult, if not unimaginable for someone in today's society, where it is easy to die of hunger and diseases easily treatable, while there are no imperfections in the capitol and electricity is common.
This situation could be easily comparable between current countries so-called 1st world and 3rd world, where, despite all the development, there are still people who suffer from trivial, and largely caused by the governments of those nations.
To control the twelve districts, and after a revolt, where the 13th district was destroyed as a lesson by the capitol, there are the Hunger Games, where twenty-four participants fight to the death, only leaving one end, to receive glory and supreme wealth. The twenty-four participants are chosen from the twelve districts, two of each, being a boy and a girl from 12 years of age.
Personally, I liked the book and how to approach social differences, the cruelty of human beings just for pure fun and survivability in a scenario where the odds are against us.
Throughout history, we feel like the heroine, as she raged rages, we suffer as she suffers and we revolt with the possibility of a society that revels in the suffering and death of a fellow.
For those who enjoy a different kind of reading, this will be a book not to be missed and the next two volumes.
